Self-Study Assignment 7.4: Think & Act💡Workflow Governance Review

  • Due Wednesday by 2:59pm
  • Points None
  • Available after Aug 19 at 8:30am

Module Outcomes.pngLearning Outcomes Addressed

  • Describe how AI agents, connectors, and multi-agent systems support workflow automation across organisations.
  • Apply trigger–action workflow logic to design simple automation chains across tools and systems.
  • Evaluate when human oversight, escalation and checkpoints are necessary in automated workflows.

Purpose

Not every workflow should be fully automated. Effective leaders evaluate where AI can add value while ensuring appropriate oversight, accountability, and risk management.

Instructions

Select a workflow from your organisation that involves multiple handoffs, approvals, or decision points.

Evaluate the workflow through the lens of agentic automation by addressing the following:

1. Workflow Overview

  • Briefly describe the workflow and its purpose.
  • Who are the key stakeholders involved?

2. Automation Opportunities

  • Where are the biggest sources of delay, friction, or manual effort?
  • Which tasks could potentially be supported by an AI agent?
  • What role would the agent perform?

3. Human Oversight

  • Which decisions should remain under human control?
  • Where would review, approval, or escalation be required?

4. Risk and Governance

  • What risks would need to be managed before introducing automation?
  • What ownership, monitoring, or governance mechanisms would be necessary to ensure successful deployment?

Reflection

Based on your analysis, would you recommend:

  • Piloting the workflow,
  • Scaling automation,
  • Or keeping it primarily human-led?

Explain your reasoning.

Estimated Duration: 30 minutes

NOTE: This is a practice activity and will not be graded or impact your programme completion. However, we strongly encourage participation for a more holistic learning experience
