Navigating the Programme

There are various ways of navigating through each module and accessing pages or activities within a module.

Ways to Navigate Canvas

1. Use the Modules tab
   • Select Modules in the left navigation pane to reach the list of modules for the entire programme, with each page and activity listed in chronological order.
   • Individual modules can be collapsed or expanded by clicking on the arrow next to the module title.
   • Select the desired page or learning activity within a module and that item will open.
2. Use the progress bar within the modules
   • Each page has a progress bar represented by a sequence of icons under the page title, representing different types of pages in the module. 
     
   • Your current location is indicated by a pin icon and shading.
   • Hover over any icon to identify what page the icon represents.
   • Select the icon to access your desired page or learning activity.
   • When you complete the requirements for the page or activity, the icon will turn green and display a check mark indicating completion.
3. Use Previous and Next buttons
   • To progress through the module pages and activities in order, select the Next button in the bottom right corner of the window (or the right arrow on the mobile app) after you complete each page.
   • To return to a previous page or activity, select the Previous button in the bottom left corner of the window (or the left arrow on the mobile app). Repeated clicking of the Previous button walks you back through the module sequence.

Before you get started with your programme material, it's highly recommended that you familiarise yourself with the user interface of this platform.

Internet Browsers

The learning platform works well in all major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Internet Explorer), provided you are either using the latest version or the prior version.

Browser Security

One important thing to know right away is that sometimes different computer web browsers block non-secure content that is embedded into a secure website. This is a browser security setting. Below on this page is an embedded video; if you don't see it, your browser is most likely blocking the content. You can change this very easily, however. The two browsers that we currently know are doing this are Chrome and Firefox, but it may impact others as well. In both of these browsers, there is a small shield icon in the address/URL bar in the browser (see the pictures below). If you are unable to view the content on the learning platform, select on the shield and confirm that you would like to view the content. There are no security concerns in doing so.

Managing Assignments

Within the programme, you can access assignments in the following tabs on the left navigation pane:

• Modules: This tab includes the assignments in the order intended to make the most sense conceptually.

• Grades: This tab lists all the required components in the programme and their completion status. This is a good place to check if you want to keep track of your progress.

Additionally, you can also keep a track of assignments in the following sections of the dashboard:

• "To do" stream, where you can see all your to-dos
• "Coming up" feed that lists all the upcoming assignments
• "Recent feedback" stream, where you can see recently scored assignments
• Calendar, where all the assignment due dates have been added

Managing Discussions

Throughout the programme, you will have a few opportunities to engage in a discussion with your peers on the programme content. To post a reply, please use the following steps:

1. Select Reply at the bottom of the discussion page.
   
   
2. Type your response in the text field and then select the Post Reply button. You are encouraged to make the first line of your post a brief subject statement. (For example, a question on how to edit a scripting file)
   
   
3. Once you post your reply, we encourage you to go through your peers' responses and share your views.
